Sheldon H.D. Rendmeister, age 79, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 6, 2023 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Carlton Andersen will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the church.
Sheldon was born on August 20, 1944, in Auburndale to Frank and Grace (Krubsack) Rendmeister. Sheldon graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1962-1965 in the 101st Airborne Division. He married Mary Smoot and together they had two children. She passed away in 1976. He later married Bonnie Tucker in 1995 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church and their marriage ended in divorce, but they remained friends throughout the years.
He was a dedicated and hardworking employee at Consolidated Papers, Inc. in the Storeroom, where he retired after 37 years of service. Sheldon was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where he will be missed dearly.
Sheldon was not only a diligent worker but also a man of diverse interests and hobbies. He was a bowling enthusiast, playing in several leagues and participating in numerous tournaments. His love for golf was evident in his frequent trips to Homestead Golf Course. Sheldon's adventurous spirit led him to travel, with several trips and cruises to Cozumel being among his fondest memories. His quieter moments were dedicated to Sudoku puzzles and journaling. Sheldon also enjoyed the thrill of bar dice and football boards, and his younger years were marked by hunting and Musky fishing trips up North in the Mercer area.
Sheldon is survived by his children: Sheldon (Alice) Rendmeister II and Malissa (Dave) Zeinert; grandchildren: Krysta, Mary, Tristin, and Samantha; he is further survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other extended family.
He is preceded by his parents, wife Mary, grandson Sheldon Rendmeister III, and eight siblings.
The family would like to thank the staff of Aspirus Riverview Hospital in both the Emergency Room and ICU for their exceptional care and compassion.

Grief can be so hard, but our memories help us cope. I remember Sheldon´s dad would tell us stories and make silly sounds, trying to scare my sister( Dar Dewitt) and I. Cousin Cindy Niemoth and my husband Ken send our condolences. Leona Ponczoch was our mom.

Sheldon used to babysit for us when we were little. He was always a lot of fun. It is sad to lose him, but he left a lot of good memories behind him for us to remember. Love, Linda Schulze
