Steve graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and Wabash Valley Jr. College before becoming a seven year veteran of the United States Army and obtaining his bachelor's degree from Illinois State University. Steve met his loving wife, Lynn, in high school and they married in 1971 at the age of 19. They had two sons, Brian and Matthew. Steve worked at Old National Bank for 26 years and during that time he was a Senior Vice President and Branch Administrator. He retired from Banterra Bank in 2017 after working nine years as a Commercial Lender. Steve was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Holy Rosary, Christ the King, where he and Lynn received the Bruté Award, and more recently, St. Benedict's parishes. He was a member of the West Side Nut Club and West Side Optimist Club for more than 30 years. Steve was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Helfrich Hills Men's Club.
Steve is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret "Lynn" Deputy; sons, Brian Deputy (Dee Briley) and Matthew Deputy (fiancée, Rachel Ferguson); granddaughter, Tyler Greenwell; grandsons, Dylan (Brianna) Deputy and Nathan Deputy; great-grandson, Crew Greenwell; mother, Joanne Deputy; and sister, Elaine (Lee) Blum.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Nile Deputy.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2022 with a Rosary service at 4:30 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue, Evansville. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday October 24, 2022 at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Alex Zenthoefer officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
