STEVEN RICHARD BUDGE

 

Steven Richard Budge, 53, of Pratt, Kansas, passed away surrounded by family after a short illness on June 18, 2023 in Seattle, Washington. Steve was born on January 21, 1970, in Goodland, Kansas to Marcia and the late Marc Budge. He was a loving husband marrying Cheryl (Beitler) on May 26, 2023 and a proud father to his daughters Annie and Abbie, and son, Brayden Stirman as well as a bonus dad to Zak (Emma) King, Emily (Brandon) Badgett, Haylie Hook (Daylen Chadd), and Matthew Hook. A half-sister, Jennifer Webb. Steve was also a doting grandfather to Nicole Hoy and Aurora, Milo, and Salem King. He was preceded in death by his father Marc Budge; brother, Scott Travis Webb; grandparents, Edwin and Bonnie Carleton; James and Priscilla Budge. Steve was a graduate of St. John Elementary and St. John High School. He went on to graduate from Sam Houston State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Mechanization. Steve served in the Kansas and Texas Army National Guard from September 1993 to March 2001. He was a dedicated employee of New Holland Agriculture for 20 years, serving as an area Service Manager and Hay Tools Specialist and also worked in agriculture as a Hay Tools Specialist in Brenham, TX and Pratt, KS. He was a lifetime committee member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Ag Mech Committee and had a passion for watching the young students show their projects. Steve enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing, cooking on the pit, working around the house and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He belonged to the St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in St. John, Kansas. A celebration of life service will be held from 2-6 PM, Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Knights of Columbus, 29327 S. Plum Creek Dr., Spring, TX  77386.  An inurnment service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS., with Father Ted Skalsky presiding. A lunch gathering will be held at 512 E. 3rd Ave., St. John, KS., following the inurnment.
