Steven Lee Huyser, age 76 passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place.

Steve was born on May 10,1949 in Lansing, Michigan to Donald and June (Spratt) Huyser.

Steve attended Lansing schools and after completing his junior year at Everett High School he went on to graduate from Interlochen Arts Academy in 1967 where he studied piano, voice, music composition and electronic music. He worked

at the Interlochen Broadcast Station before he went on to attend MSU to study computer science and was hired in their computer department. He then moved around the US always working in computer programming jobs before settling back in Lansing working for MSU in the Physical Plant writing computer programs for various applications.

Steve was a classical pianist who started his piano studies at a young age. He was a member in many choirs including the Heartland Men's Choir and Beth Shalom Choir. He performed in many piano recitals through the years as well as piano duet recitals with his mother.

Besides his talents in music and computers, he also loved photography and was a talented artist. He told lots of "punny" jokes in his lifetime receiving many groans and loved to make people laugh. He penned this phrase "Always a song and a smile" and

had it engraved on his headstone.

Steve was predeceased by his father, grandparents Ernest and Ruth Spratt, Cornelius and Cleo Huyser, and his sister, Sue Huyser Brandon. He is survived by his mother, sister, Sherry Huyser (Jeff) Holliday, nieces, Amie Sullivan (Mike), Kelly (Jim) Harrington, Nikki Thelen (Mike), Kari Holliday-Wurm (Scott), Tarin Fuller (Kris) and nephew, Cody Fuller (Alesia). Great nieces and nephews Keleigh, Shayla (John), Austyn (Peter), Mira, Riley, Anna, Ellie, Abby, Jayden, Kyle, Noah, Dylan, Kingston, Audra, Amaria, and Damon. Great, great niece and nephews, Evelynn, Henry, Hudson and Hayden along with many cousins.

Thank you to the staff of Ashley Healthcare Center in Ashley, MI for their loving care during Steve's stay in their facility. Our family appreciates all you did for us and especially for Steve. A huge thank you to all the kind, compassionate and loving staff at

Hospice House of Mid-Michigan for making Steve's final journey a peaceful one.

A Celebration of Life for Steve will be held at a later date.
