Smyth, Steven was born on December 21, 1968 in Jeanette, Pa. to Robert & Helen (nee Plowman), where Bob was stationed in the US Army. Stevie D grew up in Paterson until his family moved to Hawthorne where Stevie graduated from High School in 1986. Steven worked for the USPS for nearly 30 years as a mail carrier in Warren, NJ and was loved by all on his route.
Steven treasured time with his family and friends, spending most weekends at someone's home where he was always warmly
welcomed, especially time with his mom, sisters Beth and Betsy, nephews Billy (Samantha), Cody and Charlie (Mariah) and Niece's Kelly (Mike Muha), Angelika and Julia and grandniece Fiona. Stevie spent many late nights talking shop and sharing stories with his brother-in-law Dennis. Stevie looked forward to the many birthdays, graduations, weddings, and the annual Superbowl and Fourth of July Parties at Jeff & Sarah's with his Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. He was often among the first to arrive and the last to leave getting updated on everyone's lives and sharing his.
Steven loved music, attending countless concerts. His favorite band was Aerosmith which is why he named his son Tyler Steven. Stevie D was also an avid sports fan watching as many games as possible, especially his favorite teams – The Yankees, Rangers, and Jets. Attending games with family and friends were fond memories which Steven often shared, including Jets games with his dad, Giants games with his Aunt Gin & Uncle Joe, Yankee games with his Mom, Tyler, Jess, Beth, cousins and his best friend Drew. Steven made sure to attend at least one Rangers vs. Devils game with his son Tyler every year and even went to a couple of Islanders games with Betsy & Dennis, always proudly wearing his Rangers sweater no matter who was playing!
Stevie was not just one of the good guys, he was the best!
Predeceased by his father, Robert G. Smyth, survivors include Mother, Helen C. Smyth, son Tyler Smyth, stepdaughter Jessica Connelly, Sister Betsy Roos (Dennis), and Sister Beth Smyth.
Cremation will be private.

I own Sports Minded Unlimited in Warren and Steve has been the mail guy forever! My dad started the business in 1987 and always spoke so highly of steve. When he passed and I kept the store open, I got the privilege to talk sports & life with him when he came to the store to drop off my packages! He always knew to let me know if dropped something next door when I wasnt there. I´m so sad to hear about his passing & i´m sure he´s up there with my dad Brain talking Yankees baseball! My thoughts & prayers are with you.

Steve was not only our mail carrier but our neighbor and friend on Ridge Road for many years. When we moved around the corner our housewarming present from Steve was our bright red mailbox. Steve will be greatly missed by the entire DePekary family but Liam and Eden especially. My sincere condolences to all of Steve's friends and family.

Steve was our mail carrier, friend and neighbor. Whenever he would pull up he would yell "hey Blondie" he loved our dog Marley and she would excitedly run up to greet him. His death leaves a big void in a lot of our lives. Rock on in Heaven Stevie DDD. You will be truly missed

Steve was our mail carrier for years. He was always happy to see you, did his job well and I especially loved his dedication to the NY Rangers. We discussed our team and I will miss doing that with him. We will miss him. My sincere condolences to all his loved ones. May Steve's memory be eternal.
