Suzanne Jackson Obituary Services for Suzanne Jackson, of Willoughby, a retired Registered Nurse and Teacher, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 37950 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Mrs. Jackson passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 surrounded by family.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish since 1947 and enjoyed volunteering at the First Aid Station at the Oktoberfest each year since the parish festival began in 1980.
Suzanne was a graduate of St. John's College (Ursuline), St. Vincent Charity Hospital School of Nursing and Kent State University. She was employed by Euclid Hospital for 19 years as a Registered Nurse before starting a new career as a teacher at Auburn Career Center. Suzanne developed the Diversified Health Occupation Program in 1975 and taught for 23 years. She enjoyed teaching and continued to substitute teach after retiring from full time duties.
Suzanne was an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society and American Red Cross organizations for many decades. She became active in the American Cancer Society's I Can Cope Program, a national group, to support cancer patients and their families and eventually started a Caring / Sharing Group where continued support is given on a local level. Suzanne especially enjoyed training professional rescuers as an American Red Cross Safety Services Instructor.
Over the years, Suzanne belonged to many organizations and was active on numerous committees and boards including: Nurses Alumni Association at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, Ohio Vocational Association, American Vocational Association, Advisory Board STAFF Builders Health Care, Advisory Board Birthright – Lake County, Advisory Board for the American Cancer Society and served as their Nurse of Hope for many years, American Red Cross for Disaster Services, Critical Incident Stress Management Team for Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and East Side Irish-American Club.
Suzanne received the "Book of Golden Deeds" award in 1988 from the Western Lake County Exchange Club. This award is given to individuals for services performed that might otherwise go unnoticed. She was selected as Willoughby's Distinguished Citizen of the Year in 1997.
Her hobbies were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; following the Cleveland sports teams; planting flowers; volunteer activities and dressing up as McGee the Clown for cancer patients.
Survivors are son, Timothy P. (Cheryl) of Willoughby; daughter, Kathleen A. Doty (Kevin) of White House, TN; son, Robert M. (Cheryl) of Willoughby; sister, Connie Davies (Robert) of Suffolk, VA; brother, Michael F. Ready of Church Point, LA; nephew, Terry Haas (Jill); niece, Jacqueline Ready of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Taylor, Travis and Hayley Doty and Ryan, Alaina and Erin Jackson; great grandchildren Alivia, Camden, Elaine, Eleanor, Elias, Emelia, Emma and Jayden and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Eugene R., parents, Francis E. and Annabell Ready, brother, Raymond C. (Anita) Ready, sister, Rosemary J. French and nieces Christina Ready Copeland and Francis C. Tuttle (Michael) are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial to follow Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
