Tamar Cherry Jr

Tamar Tecero Cherry Jr. was born on February 11, 2007, in Poughkeepsie, New York to Tiffany Melvin and Tamar Cherry Sr. He was called home to heaven on Thursday, June 2, 2022, in Bartow, Florida. He was 15 years old.
Tamar was born in Dutchess County where he was well-known in the community for his caring, loving, kind nature. Tamar always kept a positive attitude and had the power to make any stranger smile or laugh with his respectful manners and his funny sense of humor.
In 2019, Tamar relocated to Florida where he spent his teen years. In his short life, Tamar learned a lot about the importance of giving back to his community and family. He had a real love for cooking and was interested in becoming a chef. His dream was to start his own food truck business this summer so he can feed his community only the finest meals. Although he will not get the opportunity to live out his dream of serving his community, he was so proud to announce that he had completed his marketing plan for his food truck a few weeks prior to his passing. Tamar may have been the baby of his siblings; however, it was understood that he was the glue that kept everyone together.
Tamar leaves to mourn his mother, Tiffany Melvin, his father, Tamar Cherry Sr, and siblings: Tranessa Melvin, Waliqua Melvin, Kayshawn Melvin, Carmen Kelly, Ty'Kia Cherry, and Noah Cherry; nieces Skyla-Rue Tolliver & Alanni Andrews, and nephew Kayshawn Melvin Jr. Tamar also leaves behind a host of Stepmothers, Stepbrothers, Stepsisters, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Family, and Friends to cherish his memory.
Tamar was proceeded in his death by his two loving Grandmothers (Jacqueline Weldon & Deborah Rodgers), his grandfather (Allen Melvin Jr,.) his devoted Great-Grandmother (Jessie Mae Weldon), Great-Aunt (Patricia Taliafero), and his uncles (Walique Peals & Michael Griffin).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 14, 2022, from 10am to 11am at the Bethel Church of God and Christ, 91 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie NY 12601. Going home services will begin at 11am with burial to follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, Inc. 39 So.
