Terry Joe West was born on December 20, 1967 to Richard and Rose (Phelps) West in Waterloo, Iowa. Terry graduated from Tripoli High School class of 1986. Following high school Terry honorably served in the United States Army from 1986-1994.
Terry worked for Comprehensive Systems in Charles City and retired in 2023.
On July 4, 2010 Terry was united in marriage to Lynda Brown at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Terry was a very humble man. He was a kind soul who loved deeply. He understood that meaningful relationships with friends, family and others required work. He always looked for the positive in people and took life as it came. Terry never wavered from his faith.
Terry was an avid hunter and loved fishing. Just being outdoors and playing with his dogs made him happy. He also had a special gift of song writing. He composed several songs for his family members and that brought much laughter and love with his words.
Terry is survived by his wife, Lynda West of Allison, Iowa; son, Devyn West of Allison, Iowa; sisters, Frances (Marlin) Ploeger of Charles City, Iowa, Julie (Mervin) Reisner of Plainfield, Iowa, Tammy Bright of Nashua, Iowa; brothers, Kevin (Candy) West of Clarksville, Iowa, Gary (Denise) West of Clarksville, Iowa; brother in-law, Lyle Becker of Nashua, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rose West; brother, David West; sister, Debra Becker; brother in-law, Jason Bright and nephew, Dustin Reisner.
