Mr. Thomas "Tommy" Hugh Baskin, Jr, 77, of Rock Hill, SC went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.
Born in Rock Hill on February 25, 1947, Mr. Baskin was the son of the late Thomas Hugh Baskin, Sr. and Vivian T. Baskin West. A graduate of Rock Hill High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked at Bowater, Inc as a bleach plant operator, foreman, and supervisor and retired in 2004 with 34 years of service.
Mr. Baskin enjoyed many outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, and hunting. In his retirement, he spent much time travelling, woodworking and being involved with his grandchildren. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Fort Mill and was so thankful for his church Family.
Mr. Baskin was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His number one goal was protecting and providing for his family, and he was so deeply loved and appreciated.
Mr. Baskin is Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rita Eddins Baskin of Rock Hill;
his daughter, Michelle Baskin Mellichamp (Randy) of Lancaster; his son, Thomas H. "Trey" Baskin, III (Kim) of Rock Hill; his grandchildren, Nathan Mellichamp, Andrew Mellichamp, Caleb Mellichamp, Madison Baskin, Ayden Baskin, and Ansley Baskin; one brother, William "Donny Baskin (Sherry) of Rock Hill; and many other extended family members.
The Celebration of Life service will be at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Bible Baptist Church in Fort Mill with Rev. Randy Mellichamp and Dr. Jim Parrish officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will take place prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Providence Care Foundation, P.O. Box 10984, Rock Hill, SC 29731, and the family is deeply appreciative of their love, care, and support.
