Thomas Edward Meyer, age 72, of Monona, Iowa passed away on November 30, 2024 at Northgate Nursing Home in Waukon, Iowa. Tom was born 3/15/52 to Clarence and Irma Meyer in Dubuque, Iowa. Tom grew up in Monona and graduated from MFL Community School in 1970. He also earned an Associate of Specialized Degree in Farm Management from Area One in Calmar.
Tom enjoyed various sports, such as golf, ping pong, tennis, hunting deer and pheasants, and fishing. Tom made many trips to the Boundary Waters and Lake Michigan to catch the biggest fish with his friend Greg Meyer. In June of 1990 he proudly mounted a Northern Pike. His most prized possession was his MFL booster club card that allowed him access to the high school football, basketball and volleyball events. Tom also loved attending any church or family event that offered a good home cooked meal. Tom loved country music, an old Western movie, the Clayton County Fair, coffee time with friends at Quillins, playing Euchre and 500 and the scenic Yellow River State Park.
Tom worked hard on the farm to grind feed, cut hay, rake hay, haul corn in from the field, feed the cattle and pigs, and help his dad and brother pour concrete and erect MFS and AGI grain bins all over NE Iowa.
Surviving Tom are his four brothers and two sisters: Vernon (Connie) from Columbus OH, Reverend Stephen Meyer of Williams, Iowa, Leon (Anne) Meyer of Monona, Ron (Tonya) Meyer of Story City IA. Mary (Steve) Berns of Lake Havasu City AZ, and Nancy of Monona.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Irma and Clarence Meyer and brother, Dan.
