Coach Walsh was one of the most influential people in my life. He was my football line coach and wrestling coach, but more than that-he was a mentor, a role model, and a steady hand at a time I truly needed one. Any success I´ve had in life, I know he had a hand in shaping.
I´ll never forget the post-season steak dinners at Murphy´s in Red Bank-he took us all out on his own dime, not for praise, but because that´s who he was. Generous, tough, and full of heart. I wish I had stayed in better touch with him over the years, but life has a way of creating space between people. Still, his voice, his lessons, and his spirit never left me.
Coach Walsh made a lasting impact on so many of us. The train will keep moving, but it won´t run as steady or as fast without him yelling at us to get up and go. Rest easy, Coach. You will never be forgotten.
