TIMOTHY FRANCIS HINSDALE
Born July 5, 1953
Eternal Rest October 24, 2023
Timothy Francis Hinsdale, 70, of
Forest Park, Illinois, passed away suddenly on October 24, 2023 from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Born on July 5, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, Timothy was a beloved son of the late Benjamin and Janice Gorman Hinsdale.
Known for being a "jack of all trades," Timothy received a B.S. degree in Art at Illinois State University, where he majored in design for the disabled. He had a creative mind and a kind heart. He was particularly devoted to the intellectually disabled and those suffering from mental illness. As a professional Santa Claus he appeared at Christmas celebrations for the parish special religious education program (SPRED) and for his own and other local families on Christmas Eve. He also enjoyed being a "larger-than-life" green leprechaun in Chicago's annual St. Patrick's parade.
In his personal and family relationships, Timothy was a faithful brother to Sr. Mary Ann, IHM, Dr. James (Bonnie), William (Norma), Joan, Therese Block (Lee), Michael (Moira), Matthew (Nancy), and John (Margie). He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Janice, his sister Margaret Pometta (Alan), and his brother, Thomas (Carolyn). Timothy leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by his twenty-six nieces and nephews: Bill (Emily), Catherine (Dave), Philip (Katy), Peter, Victoria, Patrick (Lisa), Katie (Kevin), George, Ryan, Brigid (Marc), Laura, Jeff, Paul (Emma), Karen (Matt), Julie, Daniel, Rachel, Ben, Nancy, Andrew, Jenna (Will), Maggie, Erin, Connor, Noah, and Jonas; and sixteen grandnieces and nephews: Clara, Rose, Cal, Charly, Gabriella, Whitney, Lyla, Lincoln, Dempsey, Bruce, Grace, Peter, Isabel, Caden, Ashton, and Brennan; as well as many cousins in the Gibson, Brown, Malecki, Kane, and Walsh families. He also leaves his former spouse, Clarice, and many dear friends, especially Rita Favorite Blickenstaff, Jim and Melody Burke, Jim Chiampas, Tim Chisholm, John Champagne, Michael Lowenthal, Richard Shauliss, and the late Brien McAuliffe.
Timothy received his primary education at Divine Infant Grammar School, in
Westchester, IL and his secondary education at St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago. He was a dedicated employee at several financial institutions (St. Paul Federal, Bank One/First Chicago, and Discover Financial Services) where he made significant contributions. Self-taught in computers, carpentry, plumbing, and electricity, Tim became a certified home inspector and established his own handyman business, "Overall Home Inspectors." He was noted for wearing his signature "overalls."
A memorial Mass will be held February 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Divine Infant Catholic Church of Mary, Mother of Divine Grace Parish, 1601 Newcastle Ave.,
Westchester, IL, a place that holds special meaning for his family. The family will receive friends and guests beforehand informally, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the church vestibule. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM Sisters, Monroe MI), or St. Ignatius College Prep H. S. These organizations were close to Timothy's heart and supporting them would be a meaningful way to honor his memory.
Known to his siblings as "Timmy" and to his nieces and nephews as "Uncle Two Buck" (for his habit of distributing two-dollar bills to them on special occasions), he will be remembered for his generous and compassionate nature, his dedication to his work, and his love for his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed. May his memory be a blessing and inspire us to greater charity and sensitivity toward our neighbors.
