Timothy Allen Koch, known affectionately as Tim to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, in Battle Creek, MI. Born on August 5, 1958, in Chicago Heights, IL, Tim was a beacon of selflessness, love, and wisdom throughout his 66 years of life.
Tim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sandra P. Koch, with whom he shared countless cherished moments and built a beautiful life. He was a dear father to his three daughters, Jennifer (Eric) Hospodar, Jacquelyn (Pete) Sarich, and Kristen (Anthony) Hopkins. Tim raised his daughters with the value togetherness and support. His role as Papa to Zoey and Carter Hospodar, Sadie and Logan Sarich, and Owen Hopkins, was one he embraced with joy and pride, filling their lives with laughter and love. His family meant the world to him, and he never missed an opportunity to show his love and support.
The cherished son of the late Eugene Clarence and Dorothy Koch. He was a loving brother to Kenneth (the late Carol) Koch, the late Darlene (Robert) Elza, and the late Eugene Koch. He was a dear brother-in-law to June (the late Merle) Sluis. Tim was also an adored uncle to Kathy Rockwood, Patricia Koch, Deborah (Fredrick) Nehls, Michael Weisbrodt, Christine Weisbrodt, Joshua Sluis, and Emilie (Ian) Holst, as well as a great uncle to Samantha (Xavier) Oakland, Jessica (Tyler) Purrington, Elizabeth and Nathan Rockwood, Lucius and Minnie Sluis, and Augie, Amelia, and Rowan Holst. He was made a great-great Uncle by Liam and Jax Oakland. He recently had the pleasure of meeting his great-great nieces Paisley and Wrenley Purrington.
Tim's passion for learning led him to earn a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Northern Illinois University. His career was marked by dedication and excellence. He held several leadership roles and spent the majority of his career with esteemed companies such as Akzo, Deloitte, and Pepsico. Even after retirement, Tim continued to share his expertise as a consultant with Techlink, guiding and mentoring the next generation of professionals.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tim had a wealth of interests that brought joy to his life and those around him. As a child, he cherished his train tracks. He had a sharp mind for puzzles, enjoying Sudoku and Candy Crush, and he loved to play Backgammon with his girls. Watching sports, the Olympics, and tracking planes were among his favorite pastimes. He also had a deep appreciation for music and loved to spend time rocking on the porch with Sandy.
A man of many talents, Tim found tranquility in planting vegetables in his garden, cooking, and baking cookies-his family will fondly remember the warmth of his kitchen. He was also an enthusiast of cooking shows and documentaries, and he took delight in grocery shopping for Sandy and the girls. Tim's love for making cocktails was well-known, and he cherished having a nightcap to end his day.
Tim's Sundays were sacred, spent with Sandy, creating memories that will be treasured forever. His love for travel led him to many road trips and family vacations, creating a tapestry of memories that will be held dear by all who accompanied him. Holidays were especially important to Tim as he loved to set up his Christmas village.
An active member of his community, Tim was involved with the Lions Club and enjoyed relaxing at the Darien Swim and Recreation Club. His presence was a staple in the lives of many, and his willingness to help and guide others was unwavering.
Timothy Allen Koch lived a life full of love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and wisdom will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a remarkable man who touched many lives, and while he will be greatly missed, the memories he created will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration
