Timothy Mahoney Obituary

Timothy J. "Yimo" Mahoney, 95, of Lawrence Park, passed peacefully just after dawn on Monday June 16, 2025. A first-generation American, he was born in Erie on August 14, 1929 a son of the late Thomas and Martha Küng Mahoney.
Tim served as an Air Policeman in the United States Army Air Corps, and later with the United States Air Force and enjoyed reuniting with his fellow Cold War comrades from when he served in England with the USAF Grovers.
After leaving the Armed Forces, Tim went on to work for the Hammermill Paper Company where he served as a union official and life-long member of the AFL-CIO.
In addition to his parents Tim was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Hendrick, and four brothers, Thomas, Harrison "Dick", Robert, and Paul Mahoney.
Survivors include his wife, Janis McKay Mahoney; one son, Shawn Mahoney and his wife Alexis; three grandchildren, Samuel, Wrenly, and Parker; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.
Memorial contributions can be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwestern Pennsylvania.
