Timothy Thaddeus Sheehan of Glenview passed away at home on October 17. He was 52 years old.
One of four siblings and 84 first cousins, Tim was born on November 28, 1971 to Philip ('Skip') Sheehan and Joan (Waldron) Sheehan. He spent the majority of his childhood in Fair Haven, NJ, before moving to Lake Oswego, OR during his later high school years. Tim discovered his passion for running at an early age and lettered in Track and Cross Country at Lake Oswego High School. Over the next three decades, he continued as an avid runner, finishing marathons in Okinawa and twice in his adopted hometown of Chicago. His favorite event was the Monday night 5K at Lake Takanassee in Long Branch, which he would run with his daughter, siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews during summer visits to the Jersey Shore.
Tim served in the US Navy in San Diego and Okinawa after high school. He then attended Northwestern University, where he graduated with a BA in Accounting. Tim earned his CFA and CPA designations and had a 25 year career in the financial services industry as a fixed income trader for ABN Amro, Fortis Investments and Aviva Investors.
Tim married Sarah Flores in 2003 and they welcomed their amazing daughter Kate into this world that same year. Sarah and Kate were the joy of Tim's life. They loved to travel together and spend time with family, including summer trips to the Jersey Shore and journeys to the Philippines to visit Sarah's extended family. Tim loved Sarah's parents, brother and the many friends he made in the nearly 30 years he called the Chicago area home.
Tim was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife Sarah and daughter Kate, sister Traci Sheehan Van Thull (Chris) of Coloma, CA, brother Rome (Maria) of Brooklyn, NY, and sister Susan Ferguson (Ted) of Portland, OR, seven nephews and four nieces. He also leaves behind a large extended family and friends in both the US and the Philippines. We will miss Tim dearly.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 from 3 to 8 pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview. Family and friends will meet for Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St., Glenview. Live Stream Link. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Illinois Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (https://afsp.org/chapter/illinois.)
The family has also set up a 529 to help with Kate's tuition and education expenses. Those who wish to donate can do so using this link - https://www.ugift529.com/gifttpl/ugift/create/viewGiftCodeDetails.cs?ugiftcode=K95-L0B

I coached Tim at Lake Oswego High School in Cross Country and Track. I am so sad about his passing. He was such a joy to have on the team. He was always full on energy and made the team fun. He was one tough competitor and gave his all every race. I would have loved to have a whole team of Tims. So I just send my condolences to his family. Just know that that he was one amazing runner.

Tim was always one of the friendliest faces in the office-- welcoming and very funny. He always reminded me that family is first and everything else comes after. He was a good friend and I will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace.

Have worked with Tim for quite awhile. Always very much enjoyed and appreciated our conversations. His honesty, directness and kindness made him stand out as a wonderful person. Tim´s sly sense of humor made me laugh.

We had dinner together just a few weeks ago. The pride and joy Tim had for his family was always apparent. Will sincerely miss, Tim.

Tim was one of my first clients, he was always so kind and approachable and we shared some good laughs over the years. He was incredibly true to himself, a stand-up guy and I admired the way he talked about his family. I will miss him dearly.
