Timothy Michael Speck, 43, of Peoria, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2023, after a heroic three-year battle with cancer.
Tim was born to Gregory and Anne (Scott) Speck on July 6, 1979, in Peoria. He married Rebecca Sitte on July 19, 2013, and they were blessed with five wonderful children: Isabelle, Anna, Jude, John Paul, and Thomas. Tim is survived by his wife, their children, father, Greg and grandma, Imogene Speck. He is also survived by his brother, Andy (Rita) Speck and sister, Katie (Jamie) Knepper and nieces and nephews, Kayla (Taylor) Hopple, Anthony and Lucy Speck, Jackson, Claire, Grace and Nicholas Knepper and Olivia, Andrew and Caleb Andersen, along with many loving aunts, uncles, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne, and grandparents, Donald and Lucille Scott and Willard Speck.
Tim was a loving husband and was so proud of his children. He worked as Dean of Students and as a teacher and coach at Peoria Notre Dame High School for more than twenty years, where he touched many lives and formed many deep friendships. Tim loved making people laugh, golfing with his buddies, watching Illini basketball, traveling, and spending time with family. He was a member of St. Philomena Parish. The battle he fought in the final years of his life is a testament to his determination, strength, courage, and faith in Jesus. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:30 pm with a Rosary at 7:30 pm at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, April 13, at St. Philomena with Fr. David Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a Speck Family Fund has been established for Tim's children at PNC Bank. Please make checks to the Speck Family Fund.
