Travis Wayne Hanner, 54, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, October 12, 2023. Travis was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Woodrow Hanner and is survived by his wife, Michelle Castle Hanner; his mom, Phyllis Elaine Benedict Hanner; sister, Renee Cardenas (Eric); 9 children: Shane Matthew Hanner, Jesse Christian Hanner, Nicholas Alexander Dame, Donovan Parker Dame, Kimberly Rodgers, Kathy Maxey (Corey), Samantha Arp (Wyatt), John-Michael Rodgers, Josh Highsmith; 4 grandchildren: Hunter, Teddy, Oliver, Jewell; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
Travis was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 23, 1969. He graduated from Victory Christian Academy in 1987. Travis successfully completed the apprenticeship program through Electrical Training Alliance of Jacksonville. As a journeyman electrician, Travis worked through the IBEW for many years before becoming a full-time caretaker for his mom.
Travis loved life. His loyalty and friendship knew no end. He loved fiercely and when he was in your corner you knew you had his full devotion. His hobbies included FAMILY, video games, football (Jaguars, Raiders, and Gators), baseball (Braves and Suns/Jumbo Shrimp), reading, history, building models, old cars, and RACING - attending his first race at only 6 weeks old. He loved everything from NASCAR to local dirt tracks and spent several years as the flagman at Callahan Speedway, a local go-kart track. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A homegoing service will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 3 PM at Callahan Speedway located at 543455 US-1 in Callahan, Florida. Please dress casually - Jeans and a T-shirt representing your favorite football team or racing team is requested.
Travis will be cremated and his ashes spread at his favorite spots at a later date.
