Twilla June Young was born February 17, 1936 in Throckmorton Texas, the 5th of 8 children to Charley Lee Thompson and Opal Etta Mullins Thompson. June was proud of many things, her family and Texas roots among them. When June was 5, the family moved to California. She grew up in Shasta County and attended Pacheco Elementary and graduated Shasta High School.
She was a registered cosmetologist who later took on a role as Food Service Supervisor for Pacheco School District. She worked there for 26 years until retirement.
June was a girlie girl. She was fashionably dressed, coiffed hair, manicured hands and yet she had a side to her that some people never saw. June and Allen purchased 3 wheelers and June loved being on the go. She loved riding the dunes and in the mountains and could keep up with the best. In her helmet, TJ painted on the sides, a joke from her brother, a lot of riders thought she was a man until she pulled off her helmet. Many would remark, I never dreamed I'd have trouble keeping up with a female.. "June" Junie, Junebug and TJ were nicknames she held.
Nothing was more important to June than family and she loved nothing more than spending time with them. June enjoyed the outdoors tremendously with family, including siblings and camped often. She would fish, ride her quad, bonfire talks and hunted. June was always game for trying fun things, whether it was dressing up for Halloween, dog races, or attending the fair for Indian frybread and turkey legs.
June was a strong woman with a will to live. Sadly, June battled cancer the past few years until catching Covid. June passed on November 20, 2023 from Covid and a weakened state from cancer.
June leaves her husband and her best friend, Raymond Allen Young married for 61 years, as well as 4 children: Don (Laura) Kimball, Debbie Kimball Woolf (Dirk Johnson), Darcy Kimball Rowland (Sid), Raymond Young (Linda), along with 4 siblings: Billie Thompson (Carol), Charlie Thompson (Linda), Joyce Thompson (Jesse). Linda Thompson Forman (Johnnie)and sister in law Joyce Murphy. She was predeceased by her parents, 4 siblings (and their mates), brother in law and one son in law: Henry (Laverne) of Texas, ( Gerald Thompson (Lila) and Lawanda "Sis" Morton (Rodger) all from Redding, CA, Bill Young (Phyllis) from Arbuckle and Dave Woolf of Eagle Point, Oregon. Besides 4 children June's legacy includes 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A family service is scheduled.
