Vaughn Paddock
March 29, 1941 - July 13, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vaughn Paddock, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left this world on July 13, 2025, at the age of 84. Vaughn passed away at home in St. Augustine, Florida, in the company of his wife and daughter.
Vaughn was born in Haverhill, MA, to Rose (Krikorian) and Carl Paddock. He earned degrees from the University of Massachusetts (BS) and the University of Miami (MS), and spent a distinguished career as a statistician with the U.S. Census Bureau before embarking on a second chapter as a successful Realtor in Alexandria, VA, alongside his beloved wife and partner of 45 years, Diane.
Vaughn and Diane's partnership was one filled with love, adventures in travel and celebration of the daily things they enjoyed together and with their family members and a cadre of friends. Vaughn was a devoted father to Lisa Dorsey, Kristen Dwyer and Tracey Paddock. He was a proud grandfather to Betsy Johnson, Matthew and Sarah Jenkins, and Ewing and Liam Cone, as well as great-granddaughters Alana and Ruby. He was preceded in death by his sister, Palma, and now joins her and other cherished family and friends in rest.
Vaughn's vibrant life was defined by humor, intellectual curiosity, lively discussions, storytelling, and boundless energy-but above all: love for family, friends, and the underdog. He believed in people deeply and made it his mission to encourage and cheer them on, teach and lift them up. He was a master of puns and dad jokes, and his appreciation of music was demonstrated through his being a U.S. Marine Band groupie and a joyfully spontaneous singer.
Vaughn was a great athlete, always seeking to perfect his tennis game, his golf swing, and was a proud Boston Marathoner. He was an avid supporter of women's basketball (NC State) and a lifelong, exasperated fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Vaughn leaves behind a legacy of joy, strength, and love that will continue to echo in the hearts and voices of those who were lucky enough to know him.
A celebration of Vaughn's life will take place on August 15 at 11 a.m. at Southeast Raleigh Table Methodist Church, 301 S Swain St, Raleigh, NC. 27601, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Haverhill https://www.haverhillbgc.org/ in his memory-an organization close to Vaughn's heart.
