Virginia Dale Adair Grubbs went home to Heaven on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was born on May 27th, 1933, to Elder J. Bryan and Viola Capps Adair in
Kirksville, Missouri. She grew up in
Atlanta, Missouri, and spent a lot of time traveling with her parents while her father pastored Primitive Baptist Churches in the tristate area.
As a teenager, she attended a wedding where the best man was a handsome young soldier named Clifford Grubbs. They married in 1951 and enjoyed the next sixty-five happy years together. Most of that time was spent on their farm west of Atlanta where they offered great hospitality to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone the kids brought home.
She was a member of Mt. Salem Primitive Baptist Church for more than seventy-five years, and she demonstrated a steady faith throughout her life.
Virginia worked in the Atlanta C-3 school lunchroom for many years. She loved being part of that crew, and she offered a smile and encouraging word to every student who passed their tray to her. She also volunteered with the PTA and was active in many school, church, and community events. She and Clifford supported the Atlanta sports teams as long as their health allowed.
Eventually, they moved to Macon where Virginia loved making friends in her senior housing community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her great-granddaughter Ellery Blythe White.
Virginia's grateful legacy includes four children. Ricky and Joyce Grubbs of
Macon, Missouri; Kathy and Dr. Wendell Nickerson of
Papillion, Nebraska; Martha and Dr. Kris Palmer of
Bethel, Missouri; and Kenny and Denise Grubbs of
