Longtime Del Norte resident Virginia M. Starr, 96, passed away September 20, 2023 at the River Valley Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Del Norte Colorado.
Virginia was born on May 25, 1927 to John Maxwell and Eliza Spencer-Maxwell in Salt Lake City Utah. She married the love of her life, Thomas Starr on August 14, 1948 in Salt Lake City Utah. Together they raised three children.
Virginia enjoyed gardening, especially growing beautiful flowers. She loved to read, reading everything that she could get her hands on. Virginia liked to paint with pastels. She loved being around her family, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was one of her favorite pastimes.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children Mary (Scott) Davis of Del Norte, CO, Michael (Vohnda) Starr of Macon, GA, the late John (Rozanne) Starr of Aloha, OR; her grandchildren Joseph, Matthew, Thomas, Dylan, Catherin, Danielle Anne, Robert, Nicholas and Charlie; as well as 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband Thomas; and her siblings Howard Maxwell and Bessie Maxwell.
Cremation was chosen and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
