Walter David Burns

Walter David Burns, 71, of Nicoma Park, Oklahoma, passed away on February 2, 2026

in Norman, Oklahoma.

He was born on July 21, 1954, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Woodrow and Bessie

Mae Burns. He attended Carl Albert High School, then married Janice Sue Cook and

they had four children. He then went on to a successful career as a short-haul truck

driver for several companies in the Oklahoma City area. He enjoyed fishing, drinking

coffee, watching westerns, and going to the casino.

He was preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Bessie Mae, his wife Janice, his

brother Floyd "Bo" Burns, and his brother Junior.

David is survived by his daughter Lisa Dunn and husband Dennis, son Michael Burns

and wife Ashley, daughter Latisha Honeycutt and husband Bobby, and son Stephen

Burns. His grandchildren Shaylynn and spouse Josh Burnett, Gavin and spouse

Kaitlynn Dunn, Macy and spouse Bewar Malaka, granddaughter Paisley Burns,

grandson Ayden Burns, and granddaughter Marlee Burns and four great-grandchildren;

Luke Burnett, Raiden Dunn and Lillian Dunn, and Adeline Malaka. His brother Mark

Burns, sister Beth Curlee, and sister Dawn Lambert and several nieces and nephews.
