Mr. Walter Luffman Jr. age 79, passed away on Friday October 18, 2024 at the home of his daughter Dana in Greeneville, TN.
Mr. Luffman was born on December 23, 1944 in Wilkes County to the late Walter Cleveland Luffman and Della Octavy Holcomb Luffman.
Mr. Luffman graduated in the class of 1963 from East Wilkes High School. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown. He retired with the rank of Sergeant after 30 years of service with the Winston Salem Police Department. After retiring from the police department, Mr. Luffman became a partner with Corporate Asset Protection Services that provided private investigating and body guard services. He was also a delivery driver for Modern Chevrolet.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers Harvey Luffman, Marvin Luffman, Avery Leo Luffman, and Terry Luffman and four sisters Ennice Jenkins, Sally Jenkins, Nonnie Royal, and Ester Durham.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Vicky Luffman; a son Gregory (Cathy) Luffman of Martinsville, VA; two daughters Dana (Victor) Overcash of Greeneville, TN and Tammy (Gary) Glovinsky of Melbourne, FL; a step daughter Janet (Ken) Humphries; a brother Donald Luffman; a sister Nell Crawford; a sister-n-law Jeannie Reaves; six grandchildren Jacob, Kara, Haley, Luke, Lewie, and Atticus; two step grandchildren Daniela Glovinsky and David (Bianca) Glovinsky.
A graveside service for Mr. Luffman will be held on Wednesday October 23, 2024 at 11am at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Royal officiating.
