Passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Covenant -Cooper. Age 96 years.
The son of the late Erna (Bork) and Richard Tessin was born November 12, 1927 in Hemlock, Michigan. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He married Helen A. Smith, March 30, 1951. She passed away June 1, 1997. He later married Shirley Bluemer, July 3, 1998. She survives him. Walter was employed in security with Meijer’s, engaged in farming and with W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Directors. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hemlock. Walter enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and John Deere equipment.
Surviving are two sons, a daughter and their spouses, Daryl and Jane Tessin, Hemlock, Dawn and Wayde Cochran, Texas, and Duane Tessin, Saginaw; five grandchildren, Angie Trinklein, Shawnie Klemm, Matthew Cochran, Mitchell Cochran, and Jennifer Tessin; seven great grandchildren, Jared Murphy, Jessica Murphy, Taylar Klemm, Eliza Cochran, Chloe Cochran, Conor Cochran, and Jace Cochran; and several other relatives. He was predeceased by a daughter, Denise Martin, a sister, Elsie Sherman, and a brother, Martin Tessin.
Military Committal service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Midland Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. William L. Morris will officiate with Military services under the auspices of the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W # 7302. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a Veteran’s Organization.
