Wayne Salmon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Adcock Funeral Home - Spring Lake on Dec. 20, 2025.
Terry Wayne Salmon, 69, of Cameron, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care in West End.

Wayne was born on May 25, 1956, in Dunn to the late Woodrow Wilson Salmon and Geraldine West Salmon. Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings Rachel Bain, David Salmon, and Bobby Ray Cockman.

Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was centered around hard work and unconditional love. He was married to "the most beautiful girl in the world," his "Nannygoat" and the love of his life, Janet Cockman Salmon; his children, Michelle Thorman (Paul) and Michael Salmon (Jamie); grandchildren, Tyler Thorman, Tristan Thorman (Anuhea), Hunter Salmon (Maggie), Holden Salmon (Trinity), Preston Salmon, Landon Salmon, Dylan Banks, Ashtyn Graveen (Brett) and Abby McCarthy; great-grandchildren, Mallie Salmon and Lainey Thorman; siblings, Ruth Ann Thomas (Bob), Lou Faye Gilbert, Patricia Collins (Tommy), Curtis Salmon (Annette), Buster Ingram (Sherry), Pam Cavnar (Mike), and Judy Salmon. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, including Ashley McCarthy (John), Billy Clark, Doug "Butcher-Man" Rainey (Pam), J.W. Raynor, and Arthur Green.

Wayne was the proud owner and operator of Wayne's Towing for over 25 years and then W&D Electric Company for just as many years. He was known for his skill, work ethic, and integrity. Wayne will be remembered as a hardworking provider, a proud patriot, a loyal friend, and a man whose love for his family knew no limits. He was famous for giving quirky nicknames to those who were closest to him. He loved America and the flag and took great pride in staying informed about politics and current events and often called his daughter Michelle to discuss the weekly events. He was a devoted NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., then later, he began following Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson. He never missed a race or an opportunity to discuss the race with his son Michael. Wayne enjoyed watching UNC basketball and always had classic westerns playing on his TV. He could probably quote every line in "Gunsmoke." Wayne loved everyone, it didn't matter if you were related to him or not, you were his family. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the chance to meet him.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake. A service celebrating his life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow the service at Barbecue Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sanford.

Please accept my sincerest condolences to the Salmon family. Wayne was a cherished friend, and I fondly recall our engaging
conversations whenever I stepped out to grill. We often discussed our respective football teams, the Bears and the Panthers, sharing our hopes for their success. He will be greatly missed.
