Wehlan Sparks Obituary

Mexico. Born in Carlsbad to Earl Willis Sparks and Alene Janete Williams, Wehlan
was a proud son of the Southwest. After high school in 1970, he enlisted in the
United States Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War era.
Throughout his life, Wehlan worked many jobs, but he especially valued his time as
a chemical plant operator at NReN and later as a truck driver for BES after earning
his CDL. He found joy in hard work and the freedom of the open road. Wehlan had
a lifelong love for aviation and motorcycles. He was known for his quiet strength,
loyal heart, and deep appreciation for anything that flew or roared to life.
He is survived by his partner, Angela Sparks; his children, Steve Sparks and Jacey
Sparks; his grandchildren, Issac Sparks, Leah Sparks, Tiffany Sparks, and
Stephanie Criswell; his great grand-daughter Reina Sparks Pettit; his sister,
Erylene ''Lynn'' Wurm; niece Jan White; and nephews Lance Spere, Allen Sparks,
David Sparks, and Henry Sparks. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers
Dale and Paul Sparks; and sister Debbie Plumlee. Cremation has taken place. No
services are scheduled at this time.
