Weltha Marie Mitchell, 89 of Delaware, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Country View of Sunbury.
Born August 9, 1936 in Meigs County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry Glenn & Wilda (Boring) Haning. Weltha graduated high school, and attended college. She worked for Ohio National, Bank Ohio, National City and then PNC Bank. She was in the banking industry for over 35 years and was the manager at the Sunbury Office before retiring. She also worked at Shroyer's Mobile Home Park for 17 years.
Weltha was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and the Sunbury Eagles Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Professional and Business Women's Club. Weltha enjoyed attending Blue Grass Festivals and Dances and she thoroughly enjoyed country music. She was a wonderful cook, some noted favorites from her family were her baked steak, biscuits and gravy and Chili. She enjoyed collecting music boxes, attending horse races and rooting on Jeff Gordon in NASCAR races. She will be remembered as the generous and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and "Aunt Welthie" that she was.
Weltha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim of 47 years in 2014, sisters Deana Raymond and Evelyn Allen and brothers Cecil and Kenneth Haning.
Left to cherish her memory are her step- children Tim (Penny) Mitchell and Amy Mitchell; 4 grandchildren Emily, Jamie, Hannah and Brittany; two great-grandchildren Ada and Emma; sisters Carole Thomas and Janice Thornton; along with 11 nieces and nephews.
Private burial will take place at a later date at Trenton Cemetery in Sunbury.
