Wilfredo Formales Atienza, 72, passed away on January 26, 2025. Wilfredo was born in Lucena, Philippines, on August 21, 1952, to the late Rodrigo and Leonila Formales Atienza; he was the brother to the late Evelyn Atienza Salamera.
He attended Quezon Provincial High School and Sacred Heart College in the Philippines before enlisting in the United States Navy. After his military service, he enjoyed a career as a machinist at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA, where he retired. His favorite past times included fishing, singing, playing the guitar and the harmonica, and making everyone laugh. Wilfredo loved his family and enjoyed being surrounded by them.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Luzviminda Ilagan Atienza; his four daughters, Maria Azela Ilagan Atienza, Kathryn Jordache Wuest, Rosemarie Atienza Witt, and Jessica Roxanne Ilagan Atienza; his sisters, Yolanie Atienza Casipe and Rebecca Atienza Dela Rosa and their families in the Philippines; his grandchildren, Ryan Christian Delosreyes, Rica Marie Delosreyes, Jiezel Delosreyes, Brandon Delosreyes, Landon Wuest, Samus Wuest, Shawn Witt Jr, Gideon Witt, and Benjamin Witt; and great granddaughter, Della Anderson.
The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home located at 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Deacon Smithberger officiating.
