William Thomas Barnes

William Thomas Barnes passed away peacefully and lovingly surrounded by his family.
William was born in Detroit, Michigan. He was happily married to the love of his life, Sandra Barnes for 48 years. Bill is survived by his sister Judith Plovie, his oldest son William (Gretchen) Barnes, his daughter Jacquelyn Couch, and preceded in death by his youngest son Peter Barnes (1970-2000). As well as his seven loving grandchildren Taylor, Carly, William, Conner, Julia, Carolyn, and Bridgette. Also his beloved Newfoundland dog Wilma. As well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He graduated from Berkley High School and started a career as an insurance adjuster, eventually retiring at the top of his field. His favorite pastime was spending time with his wife, family, friends and dogs on his back porch looking out over their beautifully landscaped yard on the lake at sunset. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved
animals, nature and to walk in the woods. He loved to go on his boat and take his grandchildren tubing in the summer. He loved adventures at his up-north cabin, including hunting trips with his cousins. He was an outstanding craftsman who built his own cabin, remodeled and completed many home projects. He loved a good prank and he had a charming sense of humor. Bill always kept everyone he was around smiling and laughing.
