William Ambrose Scully, 80 of Naples, FL passed into eternal life on November 11, 2025.
Known as "Billy" to his family and "Bill" to his friends and colleagues, he was born in Union Hospital in Bronx, New York on March 15, 1945 to William & Eleanor Scully. He attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine Grammar School and then attended All Hallows Catholic High School, both located in the Bronx. Bill then proudly attended Manhattan College, where he earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in 1967. He then won a scholarship to attend Pace University, where he earned his Master's Degree in Financial Management. Bill subsequently earned his C.P.A. license and began his career at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. After working in public accounting for a few years he took a job with James E. Hanson, Inc. a Real Estate Development Company based in Hackensack, NJ, where he spent many decades as a valued and trusted leader and advisor. He moved his family to
Ridgewood, NJ and it was here that he built a life with his wife, Kathy, raising their two children Karin and Michael. He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Roman Catholic Church.
After visiting Candlewood Lake as a child with his aunt and extended family, he and Kathy bought a summer home there and spent many days hosting family and friends. Bill spent many an afternoon at the helm as "The Captain" touring the lake, narrating the history of the area, and pulling skiers and tubers. He also had a daredevil streak and enjoyed speeding around with his grandchildren in tow on his jet ski. In 2008, Bill and Kathy retired fulltime to Candlewood Isle, New Fairfield, CT. After spending the winters in Florida, they moved there permanently in 2016 where they made many wonderful friends.
He loved basketball and baseball, frequently coaching his children's teams. Always seeking to help others, he endowed scholarships at both his high school and college, to ensure that others had the chance to fulfill their potential.
He was a devoted grandfather to his three grandchildren, Dan, Kiera & Teagan Boucher. Nothing made him happier than seeing them succeed in school and in sports. He was in constant contact with them and his philosophy on how to live a meaningful life will live on in their hearts forever. His broader legacy is the people that he helped follow the path that he forged through his quiet and kind strength. His faith was his constant companion, from which he drew endless comfort and solace throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Anne (nee McClory), his cherished children: Karin Anne (nee Scully) Boucher and Michael Fitzgerald Scully, his beloved son-in-law Timothy Boucher, his adored grandchildren: Daniel, Kiera and Teagan Boucher, his dear sisters: Marion (nee Scully) Kistinger (Joseph) and Patricia (nee Scully) Branigan (Phillip), his many colleagues at James E. Hanson/Hampshire Management Companies, his many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, William A. and Eleanor R. (nee Spain) Scully, his beloved cousin (who was like a brother to him) Andrew Robert "Bobby" Silo and his life-long best friend William R. "Ronnie" Weiscarger.
