William Sforza Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by William G. Basralian Funeral Service on Dec. 6, 2025.
William T. Sforza, longtime resident of Emerson, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 29, 2025, at the age of 84.
Bill was born to Lucy and William C. Sforza in the Bronx on April 29, 1941. Bill attended Our Lady of Solace School, Mount Saint Michael Academy, and graduated from Manhattan College in 1962 with a degree in accounting.
Bill started his career as a CPA at Arthur Andersen and ended his career 49 years later at Castle Oil Corporation (now Sprague) with stops along the way at Cities Service, Borden, Unilever, and Pinkerton. His career allowed him to spend extended stays in Brazil, Argentina, and England.
Outside of family and friends Bill had two passions: travel and food. Bill and his wife Patty traveled extensively, often with their children and sometimes with friends in tow. Bill and Patty liked to immerse themselves in the local culture by renting homes and apartments when traveling, decades before Airbnb existed. After marrying Patty, Bill discovered a love for cooking. Guided by her encouragement and inspired by his travels, family, and cookbooks, he progressed from making weekend meals, then elaborate holiday meals, and ultimately becoming the family's full-time chef.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Patricia "Patty", daughter Georgina (Peter Walker), son Christian, sister Barbara (Robert Kirk), and most cherished grandson John "Jack" Walker.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of Bill and Patty's caregivers, the kindness and love you have shown and continue to show has no limits. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Family and friends are welcomed at Basralian Funeral Home, 559 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell on Thursday, December 11th from 4 to 7pm. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at Church of the Assumption in Emerson on Friday, December 12th at 10am. William will be laid to rest privately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
