William Edward "Bill" Sheppard, Sr., 85, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away April 13, 2024, at Mercy House of Chambersburg. He was born on June 11, 1938, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Newton and Minnie (Litton) Sheppard.
William was in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. He began his fire service in Pomona, California from 1961-1974. He was a retired Chambersburg Fire Chief, service from 1974-1996. He loved his red truck and woodworking. He was famous for his chili parties.
William is survived by his wife, Suzanne B. Sheppard, children; William (husband of Virginia) Sheppard, Jr., Linda (wife of Gary) Woods, stepchildren; Jody (wife of Kevin) Jones, Allen (husband of Lori) Guiles, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, siblings; Ginny Sheppard and Dennis Sheppard. In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by siblings, Mary Ellen Ressler, Newton Sheppard Jr, a grandson, Colton Wood, and stepdaughter, Jacki Everett.
At William's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy House in William's name.

Sincere sympathy to Sue and to Bill's family. So sorry to hear of his passing. I admired his dedication to his community and have many fun memories of him. VFW, Legion, Amvets, Wildwood, chili parties ... they will always make me smile.
