Jack Leonard Vilsack, 83, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, April, 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1932, the son of John and Marie (Hannis) Vilsack.
He married Norma Slike in 1957.
Jack and Norma moved to Texas in 1998. He worked various jobs throughout his life in
financing, managing a plastic plant, running a motel, and selling cars. Jack loved
woodworking, and more specifically intarsia. His other hobbies included gardening and being outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Vilsack; four children, Sue Vilsack, David
Vilsack, Nancy Lanford, and Richard Vilsack; four grandchildren, Amanda Huddleson, Dana Vilsack, Laura Vilsack, and Simon Vilsack; and three great-grandchildren.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents and sister Loretta Petrus.
There will be a funeral mass on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Martha's Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, Texas 77365.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Altus Foundation, 1535 West Loop South, Suite 450, Houston, TX, 77027

Jack was a wonderful neighbor. Friendly and always had time to chat with his neighbors. I will miss the conversations regarding woodworking and gardening. Norma and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this life transition.
