Jean Eddins Obituary

Jean Eddings was a caring and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world on October 27, 2021, surrounded by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Jerry Eddings and her four children. She was born in Conroe, Texas on April 10th, 1938 to parents James Eugene Murray and Doris Stewart Murray.

She attended Conroe High School and later Scott and White School of Nursing in Temple, Texas, where she graduated as a RN. While attending Scott and White University, she met and fell in love with a young Army Private based out of Fort Hood. After graduating, Jean and Ken (the young private) married in 1959 and purchased a home in Jean's home town of Conroe, Texas. There, Jean headed up the Emergency room at the Montgomery County Hospital. The emergency room serviced four other counties who did not have an emergency room. After years of working as the head nurse at the Montgomery County Hospital, she began a career as a school nurse that lasted 22 years. After retiring from Conroe ISD, she became a tax preparer for H&R Block for 16 years. Jean loved being a nurse and preparing taxes.

She also loved being a mother. When the Lord said go forth and multiply, Ken and Jean took it to heart and welcomed four children, Teresa Eddings Peterson, Kenneth Layne Eddings, James Ray Eddings and Michael Scott Eddings. Also included, son-in-law Tracy Peterson and daughter-in-law Sharon Wilkerson Eddings, grandchildren, Lena Angel, Kerry MacDonnell, Justin Peterson, Kenny Eddings, Chris Eddings, Jeffery Crosby, Kelley Collins, James Eddings, Autumn Eddings, Justin Eddings, Lauren Eddings and Sarah Eddings. As well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jean loved attending church and Sunday school. She and Ken have been members of the April Sound Church for 22 years. She cared deeply for her Church family. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club and volunteered as CASA Case Worker. Gardening and canning were among her favorite activities, as well as interacting with her Grandchildren, dancing, cooking, and sewing. She enjoyed cards, dominos, Yahtzee and she competed in "42" tournaments. (The domino game 42)

Traveling was another great interest. Jean and Ken traveled to many destinations in the US and the great state of Texas. They enjoyed cruises to Mexican and Caribbean destinations and traveled to Costa Rica, England, France, Spain, Italy, The Straits of Gibraltar and Australia.

Of all the things she loved, she loved her family most and was a rock, the center of the family. She was and is very loved by her family.
