Jerry Wallace Woods, 71, passed away on January 20, 2016, in Houston, Texas. He was a long-time resident of Kingwood, Texas.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on August 7, 1944, to Audley Wallace Woods and Opal Hill Woods. Jerry completed his education at West Jefferson High School in Harvey, Louisiana, and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a degree in Civil Engineering, before embarking on a successful career in the Oil and Gas Industry. While a student at LSU, Jerry was a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland. Jerry's career took him to locations around the world where he made numerous personal and business friends. Jerry retired from Oil States International in 2015. He was a member of various organizations, including Texas Society of Professional Engineers, NOMADS, Harley Owners Group and Ducks Unlimited. Jerry enjoyed hunting with family and friends, but his biggest enjoyment came from watching his grandchildren participate in their sporting events.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Gloria M. Woods, children Melissa W. Johnson, Meredith W. Oltman (Mitchell); grandchildren, Ethan, Chase and Blaine Castaneda, Camille Oltman, Evan and Ryan Johnson, and step-grandchildren, Shelby and Melinda Johnson and Myar Oltman; brothers, Larry Woods (Jackie) and David Woods (Shirley), brother-in-law Willard (Buddy) Masters (Linda), sister-in-law Valentine Eymard (Hugh) and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
His visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Kingwood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood Texas. His entombment will be on Friday, January 29, 2016 in Gretna, Louisiana following a visitation from 10:00 to 12:00 pm at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd Marrero, Louisiana.
