Leslie Roy Hilbun, 70, of Edmond, OK passed away August 31, 2017. He was born February 27, 1947 to Parker and Norma Hilbun, in Cleveland, Texas. Leslie graduated from Cleveland High School in 1966 and went on to attend Sam Houston State College; Huntsville, Texas, South Texas Junior College, Houston, Texas; OCCC Junior College, Oklahoma City, OK. graduating with an Associate's Degree in 1977 and later attended UCO, Edmond, OK. Leslie served 4 years in the United States Air Force, both in the states and Europe, where he played baseball and worked in supply. He later spent time in the Air National Guard in Oklahoma City. Leslie was employed by General Motors, OKC, OK for 27 years and retired in 2006. He enjoyed coaching both his daughter and son in sports over the years and was a band parent for the Mustang schools. After his children graduated, he coached girls travel softball for 15 years accumulating 123 scholarships. He always said it was "the girls who get the credit." He was then fortunate enough to coach college softball at Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Oklahoma and Mid-America University in OKC, OK. Nothing was as important as his children and grandchildren. He attended their functions and was a proud Papa. Les was a 32nd degree Mason and wore his father's ring proudly. He was preceded in death by his father, Parker Hilbun; mother, Norma Hilbun, step-father, Orville Fish, and son, Scott Wayne Hilbun. Les is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elaine Hilbun; daughter, Heather Hilbun Buckeye, AZ, son, Brandon Hilbun and wife, Joyce of Newcastle, OK and granddaughters: Kayla, Savanna, Skyy, and grandson, Scott. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Marvin Misemer and wife, Debra of Blue Springs, MO; Keith Misemer and wife, Robin of Baltimore, MD; many aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. Special appreciation to all doctors, nurses and medical staff at Oklahoma Heart Hospital North. Funeral services were held 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 313 S Hwy 76, in Newcastle, OK with burial to follow at Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes, 4000 SW 119th Street OKC. Sorry to hear about this.... My brother, Truman Brown, spoke highly of Leslie. When Truman was ill, Leslie came to visit him.... and we were very appreciative of his special visit. So, on behalf of my brother, we send strength during this difficult time.
