Martha Marion Obituary
Martha Lucille McCollum Marion, age 93, was received into the everlasting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 12, 2016. Martha was the daughter of Matthew McCollum and Alice Wilson and loving wife of James Francis Marion (deceased). She is survived by her daughter Sharon, her son Donald Gary, granddaughters Rebecca and Rachel Marion, and her daughter-in-law June Zenner Marion.
Although born in Berea, Kentucky, on August 30, 1922, Martha was raised in Loyal, Kentucky, and was graduated from Loyal High School. She worked as a telephone operator during World War II, and later as a bookkeeper for Jeffrey Manufacturing Company in Harlan, Kentucky. Martha married the love of her life on December 30, 1944. The couple resettled in Toledo, Ohio, where they later celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary December 1994.
As a homemaker and loving mother, Martha dedicated her life to raising her family, serving others and living for her Lord. She was a role model for all who knew her, overcoming many trials. Following the death of her husband James in 2000, Martha moved to Humble, Texas. The family mourns her passing, but rejoices in the hope of the resurrection and in the reunion of the life to come.
The family will receive friends for a viewing on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at the Darst Funeral Home located at 796 Russell Palmer Road in Kingwood, Texas, 77339, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. There will also be a viewing 30 minutes prior to the funeral. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 2016 at 5:30 PM at Lamb of God Lutheran Church located at 1400 FM 1960 East Bypass, Humble, Texas, 77338. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park, in Sylvania, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martha's name to the Lamb of God Lutheran Church "Free to..." Fund or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
