MARY ELISE EXNICIOS MOORE, age 86, entered into eternal life on December 7, 2016. She was born in New Orleans on January 16, 1930 and spent the first half of her life there before moving in 1978 to Kingwood, Texas, where she resided until her death.
Mary graduated as valedictorian of her class at Holy Angels Academy and attended Dominican College and Soule Business College. The cornerstone of her life was her strong Catholic faith, which sustained her through the unspeakable tragedy of being widowed twice by the age of 22. In 1954 she married her beloved husband Al. Their marriage lasted 55 years. Mary was a devoted and loving wife, and an extraordinary mother whose first priority was always her five children. She was an avid bridge player, earning her A.C.B.L. Life Master status in 2001. She served as Eucharistic Minister at St. Martha Catholic Church in Kingwood.
By far her most cherished role in life, however, was as "Nana" to her 15 adored grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by daughters, Anne Moore Otts (Mark), Patrice Moore Torres (Larry), and Jane Moore Axum; sons, Dr. Timothy A. Moore (Susan) and Dr. Al J. Moore, Jr. (Rosa Maria); grandchildren, Christopher Otts (Katie Carter), Dr. Patrick Torres (Katherine); Dr. Nicholas Otts (Kaitlin), Dr. Timothy Torres (Erin), Andrew Otts, Matthew Torres, Allison, Sarah Jane, and Anna Axum, and Sophie, Samuel, JohnPaul, Therese, Gabriela, and Mia Moore; great-grand-daughters, Mary Katherine, Elizabeth, and Michelle Torres, and Eloise Otts; and one brother, John Exnicios. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al J. Moore, Sr.; father, Joseph B. Exnicios, Sr.; mother, Anna Ferrand; step-mother, Josephine Curry; and two brothers, Robert and Joseph Exnicios.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the Darst Funeral Home, 796 Russell Palmer Road, Kingwood, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at noon at St. Martha Catholic Church. Private interment in the Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 13. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Mary's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, are suggested.
The family especially thanks the staff of the Isle at Kingwood, where she resided for the last few years of her life, and Bristol Hospice for their tender loving care of Mary.
