It all began Saturday, June 7th 1952 in the Panama Canal Zone. Minerva Edith (Rivera) Haney was the tenth child of sixteen born to Ofilda and Juaquin Rivera. She graduated high school and obtained her college degree from Panama University.
"Miny", as she was known to her family and friends, worked as a business administrator for several companies and enjoyed weekends with her friends Ayola, Becky, and Elia dancing to Jose Feliciano. While visiting her sister in Florida, she met the man of her dreams in the summer of 1976. John and Minerva Haney married on February 14, 1977 and settled in Fort Lauderdale where Miny enjoyed a successful career in the import/export business. They soon began a family and were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Kara, Tonya and Megan.
In 1994 the family moved to Kingwood TX where Miny fell in love with the beautiful trees of the "Livable Forest". She continued her career in international logistics and was an active member of St. Martha's Catholic Church. She participated in the Rosary Guild, enjoyed organizing donations to the church and sending supplies for underprivileged children back to Panama.
Minerva Edith Haney passed away at her home on March 5, 2018 surrounded by her daughters and holding the hand of her husband of 41 years. She is survived by her husband John Haney; daughter, Kara Haney Beckmann and husband Eli Beckmann of Houston; daughter, Tonya Haney Lindgren and husband Justin Lindgren of Minneapolis; and daughter Meagan Haney of Houston.
The visitation and rosary will be held at 6:00PM on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood. The funeral service is on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00AM at St Martha's Catholic Church in Kingwood.
