Francis, W. Douglas
1927 - 2018
W. Douglas Francis, age 90, passed away Sunday, March 4th. He was born on June 7, 1927 in Mt. Kisco, New York to the late Earle and Anna (Hamilton) Francis. Doug was the valedictorian of his high school senior class in 1945. He joined the Navy and was a WWII Veteran. Upon receiving his discharge and GI Bill, Doug entered Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received a degree in physics. He worked as a geophysicist for Shell Oil, Pend Oreille Oil & Gas, and Union Pacific. His first assignment brought him to Houston where he met the love of his life, Mary Lee (Montz). They were married over 64 years. Doug loved to travel and visited all the continents. Doug & Mary Lee were fabulous dancers and many times people gave them the dance floor. He will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind; Elizabeth (George) Powers, Linda (Dan) Daniels, Mark (Deb) Francis, Patricia Thompson, and John (Caryn) Francis. In addition, he has 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Celebration of his life will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Chapel in Horseshoe Bay, TX on Sunday, March 11th, at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Catholic Charities or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Doug was the most wonderful person you could have as a friend. He was always kind and helpful. Met him at Shell Oil many years ago and I´ve never forgotten him.
