Just hearing/seeing her name again brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. Her memory as a great lady endures. Peace.

Your mom was also a terrific tennis umpire at all levels. She was a joy to work with and a true professional who always made those around her better. The Tennis World will miss her too.

Dear Cain Family, I was shocked and sadden to hear of Sue's passing. I have such fond memories of Sue and the entire Cain family as we grew-up on Greenway Lane. Sue was always so busy and active and really seemed to enjoy life. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope your many memories will help you during this sad time.

I remember Sue as a classmate at Randolph-Macon Woman's College. As a girl Sue was always athletic, vital, fun-loving, enjoyed performing on stage, and was occasionally up for a mischievous prank or two. She stood out in our class from the beginning and is well remembered by all of us from the class of l955. Our class is unique in that every year we have a mini-reunion. Sue would attend these reunions, always looking great and younger than her years. We all agreed that as we aged Sue seemed to hold her own with time better than any of us. I think I was especially upset to learn of Sue's passing because her vitality was so much a part of her, especially in her youth, that death was simply not compatible with my memory of her . For our 50th reunion Sue composed a run-down of her busy and fulfilling life in which she showed her great pride in her 5 children. Sue was also very proud of her then 5 grandchildren. I believe there are 7 grandchildren now. Along with a number of our Richmond classmates, Sue was to be one of the hostesses for our 55th reunion which will take place in l2 days. Our reunion will not be the same now, but when we come together we will remember Sue and all our youthful antics. We will celebrate her life, but we will miss her greatly.

Dear Cain Family,
I met you mother many years ago when I worked with Ron and Ron, Sr. at Wheat. She was an amazing person.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

To Sue's family:
I am so saddened to hear of Sue's passing. I considered her a friend and spent many years in officiating with her. She was first class, both on the court and off. We knew her family came first. I will miss her.

Tommy - Sue's friends in the tennis umpiring community will long remember her as a gracious and first class lady, a great official, a pioneer to many of today's women officials, and better than that, a friend to all of us. I am so sad to hear of her passing - particularly so after I read that she had resided at Boca Grande, which is just a few miles from where Ginny and I have settled in Englewood. We wish we had known, and would have been happy to have driven down and had a dinner with her! Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your extended family, and that your Mom lives on in our hearts forever. She made the world a better place.
