Diane Mansfield Obituary

Diane Querry Mansfield
1955 ~ 2018
Salt Lake City, UT - Diane Querry Mansfield, age 63, passed away on December 27th, 2018, in Salt Lake City, Utah at home, surrounded by her family. She was born to David and Audrey Querry on January 21st, 1955 in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania. Her parents gave Diane and her brother Brian a family life of fun, adventure and love. She grew up in the lovely Pennsylvania countryside, riding horses, playing in the woods, sledding, fishing, and hiking. Sundays were filled with church, afternoon drives with ice cream.
Diane graduated from Central High School in Martinsburg in 1972 and earned a BS Degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University in 1976. She then moved to Salt Lake City to obtain a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management and Economics at the U of U.
In Utah, she met the love of her life, Dennis Burton Mansfield. Despite her lack of skiing skills, they were married within a year, on October 10th, 1980. Together they raised three wonderful children: Mauri Lynn (Matthew) Dressman of Seattle, Washington; Chase David of Salt Lake City; and Lindy Anne (CJ Jedrziewski) of Salt Lake City. She is survived by 3 grandsons with 2 more on the way; her brother, Brian D. Querry (Kimberly) of State College, Pennsylvania; two wonderful nieces, Kendal and Shelby; a sister in law, Ann Baker of Salt Lake City, Utah; and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister.
As a beloved wife and mother, Diane enjoyed the outdoors, family adventures, and traveling to beautiful places, especially Hawaii. She was a wonderful host of gatherings for family and friends and was known as gracious, kind, and loving. She was intelligent and strong and her decision-making abilities were highly regarded by all.
Diane cherished her 30-year career at Questar Corporation, beginning as an intern and retiring as Vice President of Human Resources. She was extremely proud to serve on the Board of Directors for Mountain America Credit Union for 27 years. She was also a member of many other esteemed boards and committees, such as the University of Utah Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. In 2010, the Salt Lake Chamber presented Diane with the Pathfinder Award for her support of women in business. She empowered her community with support and volunteer work.
She was an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church and lived life like every day was a gift and a blessing. Diane and her family are grateful to the wonderful Huntsman Cancer Institute Oncology team that guided her and provided comfort and friendship over the past 10 years: Dr. Weis; Nicole; Judy; Nancy; and many others.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019, at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2018, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 1736 East 3300 South (Highland Drive), Salt Lake City, Utah and at the church, Thursday, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Dear Querry and Mansfield family, I just read my Morrisons Cove Herald of Jan. 3 here in Houston and was sorry to read about Diane's illness and passing. We were in the Central High School band together, and I remember what a kind upper classman and beautiful people Diane and her family were. As a survivor of ovarian cancer myself for a similar time period, it is encouraging that Diane was able to battle her disease and continue to have the professional and family respect conveyed in her obituary. She was a woman of accomplishment with a loving family. None of us could ask for more. My condolences to all of you for this loss.

To all,

I cared for Diane as a volunteer at the Huntsman Infusion Cliic for many years. We had a connection right from the first. We always talked and shared the items going on in our lives.

I will miss her. She was a fighter. Always smiling.

Her light was strong here on earth. Her light is bright on the other side. Shining down with love and energy.

Sincerely,

Brent V. Marrott
