What a wonderful lady and teacher! I wasn't fortunate enough to be in her class, but I have fond recollections of playing euchre with her at lunch time. I hope her family takes great comfort from the words of the former students and parents of students whose lives Mrs. Zeches touched. You're in my prayers.

Mrs. Zeches was my math teacher. She was so kind and gentle when helping you work through a problem. She was the reason I chose and loved working in the accounting field for so many years. She was one of my favorite teachers. May God hold you close until we meet again.

My Dearest Friend Lee - I will miss you beyond measure. I will forever be changed because I had the honor of having you in my life. You were a mentor, a friend, and a mother figure. I am honored to have known Lee personally as she taught two of my three children, who are now teachers for Reys. District. My son, first got a Business Degree and then got his teaching degree. My daughter and son spoke very highly of Lee. I was proud to have known her personally. God Bless You Lee.

I had the pleasure of being in her class for 2 years. She taught me that working hard feels good! That working on a problem is not as hard if you use your mind and work step by step. She might've been just a math teacher to some people but she was a life coach for me!

Mrs. Zeeches was more than a teacher. I am an a high school Principal and in more than one of my commencement speeches, I spoke of her and her impact on my life. Like many of us, we have become the people we are because of mentors. Mrs. Zeeches was the ultimate mentor. She was more than just successful. She was significant, which is way more important than being successful. Her significance lives on in all of us who loved her.

Carlene: I was so glad to see the Crucifix present in her casket. That means you know that there will be a reunion someday for all of us in Christ. God bless you and your family and I have lifted you all in prayer. I was lucky enough to have her all 3 years of HS and it was her Algebra class that helped me through my military tech schools and my electrical apprenticeship, for I had to know Algebra to solve electrical power equations.

Funny the things you remember in life. Lee was a great teacher, but one day she started class by showing us a piece of mail she rec'd stamped by the Post Office "Found in Old Equipment". She shared that she thought how rare this must be, until realizing that it happens often enough that "they made a stamp for it!" I learned Trig well thanks to Lee, but its fun little stories like this that demonstrate how much she enjoyed interacting with her students. I can still picture her sharing that funny little story :)

Lee was a mentor and a friend. I will forever remember her passion and "can do" attitude. She taught me never to accept "no" as an answer when you're trying to do the right thing for kids. Her legacy is profound and she will be missed.

Mrs. Zeches was one of the best teachers and positive influences of my high school days (RHS 1985). She took the time to get to know her students and challenge us just the way we needed it. I can't think about RHS without thinking about her.

May 19, 2011

Mrs. Zeches was an outstanding math instructor but I will always remember: her smile and laughter, the frames and frames of senior pictures on her classroom walls, her "matchmaking" skills, MatMaids, her voice, the teacher skits at pep assemblies...Carlene and Jeff, I am so sorry for your loss but please know your mom's memory lives on in the hearts of thousands of her former students.

Mrs. Zeches was the best teacher I had. She was old school in a good way. She demanded respect and got it. I always thought it said something about her character that she would take the time to write each students name in calligraphy in her grade book. (class of 1985)

I'm sadden to hear of Mrs. Z's passing. She was my algebra teacher in 1984 and although I struggled with algebra, she was always there to help when ever I needed her. When I first attended RHS as a sophmore in 1983, I remember all the admiration the upper classman gave her. When I finally had the pleasure of having her as my teacher, I understood why she was so loved. To her family, please accept my deepest condolences and thank you for sharing your mother with all her "other" kids.

May 18, 2011

I am quite saddened to hear of her passing. I not only learned a lot about math in her class, but her kind smiles and laughter filled class as well. I hope that my own teaching career will be as influential. Sarah Schatz Class of '93.

Mrs. Zeches touched the lives of her students in so many ways, both in and out of the classroom. She was my math teacher, Mat Maid advisor and friend ... a beautiful lady who could teach and mentor as well as be your friend if you needed her to be.

I am so sad to hear of Mrs. Zeches passing. She was much more than a teacher. She was a role model and a caring individual who taught her students so much more than math. She taught them self worth. I will always remember Mrs. Z taking a class day before prom to teach everyone proper etiquette, right down to which fork to use and how a gentlemen pulls the ladies chair out. Her love for her students was evident in all she did. She will be greatly missed.

Truly the end of an era...she was wonderful. Some of my fondest high school memories include Mrs. Zeches. I remember going to Wendy's with her for lunch my senior year. She always had a great sense of humor and was easy to relate to..even as a teenager. My thoughts and prayers go out to Carlene and the rest of her family.

Lee welcomed me into the teaching staff of RHS and I worked with her for 30 years. I appreciated her sense of humor and her discipline with her students. Education needs more teachers like Lee. She was very respected and will be greatly missed

I remember Mrs. Zeches fondly. She was a very good teacher and helped so many. I can remember when the girls that wore skirts or dresses couldn't have the hems shorter than 6 inches above their knees. So if you wore one she had to get out the ruler and you had to kneel on the floor so she could measure your hem. She always seemed to do that with the most serious face. I know she took her job very seriously and I am sure she took us home in her thoughts. I pray that her family, friends, and former students, will continue to think about her and honor her. May all be blessed with fond memories. Praying for comfort and peace for all effected by losing Mrs. Z. May you rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Zeches passing. I graduated from RHS in 1976. She was one of my very favorite teachers. She taught me Algebra as a freshman and encouraged me to take honors Algebra. I was not exactly an honors student, but with her help I succeeded. She taught me not to be afraid to try. She had a wry humor, but was very kind. I also had the pleasure of babysitting for Carlene on an occasional basis. I'm so sorry for your loss, Carlene. She was a wonderful woman.

I taught with Lee for 11 years in the 80's and 90's. In my 30 year career, I have not met a math teacher that could come close to Lee in skill, knowledge, or relationship with students. She was truly one of a kind, and my heart goes out to her family at this sad time.

I am so sorry to learn of Mrs. Zeches passing. She was a great teacher and mentor to so many of us during high school. You always knew that her door was open to you for whatever problem you had - she helped so many of us with so much more than math. As a teenage girl in the 70's it was so wonderful to have a strong female role model and there was no one better at that than Mrs. Zeches. My thoughts and prayers go to Carlene and the rest of her family. She was loved by so many and will be missed.
