Albert "Al" Joseph Martinez, Jr. passed away at his home on July 12, 2025 in New Orleans, LA.

Albert was born on September 5, 1930 to Albert Sr. and Osceola Anna Palao Martinez. He was a brick mason and an educator who taught for many years at Booker T Washington High School.

Albert is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Mildred Patton Martinez. He is survived by his children, Monique Martinez Butler (Troy) and Byron Joseph Martinez (Catrina); grandchildren: Adam Troy Butler, Brandon Joseph Martinez, Margaux Renee' Butler and Justin Joseph Martnez; and a loving group of other family members, church members and friends.

Albert was well known for his love of music, his creativity, his gifted hands and especially his sense of humor.

A funeral service will be held at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd on Saturday, July 26 at 11:00am. Burial will be at St. Vincent De Paul No. 2, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum. A repast will follow at the NOLA East church of Christ, 4332 Lonely Oak Drive, New Orleans. Brother RL Clark will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the NOLA East church of Christ in Albert's memory.
