Alecia "Lisa" Jan Berry, 73, of Iowa Park, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, at Hospice of Wichita Falls, surrounded by her family.
Memorial services with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Pastor Stubblefield officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
The daughter of the late Louann and James Shannon, Sr., Alecia was born on October 7, 1950, in Houston, Texas. She began her life adventures by joining the U.S. Navy at the age of 22 and traveled the world proudly serving her country. While stationed in Naples, Italy, she met the love of her life, Ted, and they married on December 1, 1988. Lisa would close her Navy career as a Telecommunications instructor at the Naval Training Center in San Diego, California. She took great pride in teaching young people in the military to love and serve their country.
Lisa and Ted then both retired and settled into their home and life in Iowa Park, Texas. She would go on to complete her bachelor's degree at MSU and was proud to share and set this example to her children and grandchildren. She fulfilled dreams of owning her own business and being self-employed, retiring for a second time before going to work at AT&T. Lisa met many wonderful friends and enjoyed her time there before fully retiring for the last time. She looked forward to her "lunch bunch" dates with a group of dear friends she had met during this time.
Lovingly known as "Nanaw", she and "Papaw" then made it a priority to love on their grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events. Lisa was an animal lover and adored her cats, Banchee and Cracker. She enjoyed tending to her roses, front porch sitting, sharing stories of her worldly adventures with her grandchildren, and visiting with her neighbors. Another passion that she shared with Ted was watching a good race. Stock car races in particular. They could often be found at the speedway in Wichita Falls and Lawton on the weekends.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and also a step-son, Thomas Wise. She is survived by her husband, Ted Berry, of Iowa Park; her children: a son, Ronny Berry and Michelle of Lebanon, Missouri; and daughter Kristi and Chad Smith of Lawton, OK; her grandchildren Lexie Jump and husband Colton of Duncan, OK; Taylor Nuffer and husband Andrew of Iowa Park, TX;, Leighton Derzapf and husband Andrew of Wichita Falls, TX; Casey Reed, Jr. of Wichita Falls, TX; Parker Berry of Waynesville, MO; Katie Smith of Waco, TX; and Ethan, Christian Wise and Shea Wise Tharp of Pennsylvania; great- grandchildren Tuff, Lynlie, and Gunner Jump of Duncan, OK; and several special nieces and nephews, along with special brothers-in-law..
Lisa's family finds peace in knowing that she was strong in her faith and loved the Lord. The courage and strength she displayed was a true testament to that.
The family would like to sincerely thank all of the nurses and staff at Hospice of Wichita Falls. The level of care and compassion that was given to Lisa and family members was beyond amazing. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls in lieu of flowers.

Lisa and Ted were the best neighbors we could have ever asked for and we were blessed to live next to two of the best people and friends. Love you both and our heartfelt condolences.
