Alice was a very strong minded individual, but full of love for her cattle, and her little farm. Such an intelligent and interesting individual. I shoveled many corn wagons out, and put up many hay bales with her in our earlier years. It is hard to comprehend such a wonderful soul is no longer with us here on earth. To Sherrie, family, friends, and to her students she invested much...We all love you, and May God Bless Your Journey. You deserve the rest.

It has been a blessing in our lives to have known Alice. It began when she and Sherry came to our shop and continued when we went to their delightful "fall extravaganza location". We so enjoyed our visits with them. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with all her loved ones and again, we are so thankful we had the pleasure of her friendship. Sincerely, Shannon and Anne from The Little Corner Shop

When I was around 4 or 5 Miss Gillis would show up at our house in Galveston to inspect my brother Brian & sister Becky's rooms. I was scare to death of her. Had no idea who this room inspector was. When I got to 7th grade at Cass, Oh My here this inspector stood in front of me. I was so scared that I was going to have my room inspected now too. But Alice just laughed at me and said not to worry Lil Quirk. She was such as awesome person with a heart of gold. Every time we went to Muncie Dad & I would look her up. Rest in peace room inspector.

I'd have to say she was the most stubborn yet passionate person I know. Dedicated to farming, gardening and love of flowers. I'll remember her as a true friend through tuff times and good. Rest in peace dear friend!!

Dear loved ones of Miss Gillis: Miss Gillis was a wonderful teacher. She was a driving force for our amazing 200-member Pep Block. We were a cheering powerhouse thanks to her leadership. Our sincerest condolences.

As one of her many students, Miss Gillis left an indelible mark on my life. During my time at Lewis Cass, I wrote for the Kings“ Courier, and was eventually lucky enough to have my own humor column. Alice Gillis was a frequent subject in those articles, as I used our friendly relationship and "same eccentric sense of humor" (Patsy Ronk, circa 1997) as inspiration to lampoon life around Walton, Indiana.
Her eyes were always alight with mirth or mischief, and the world is dimmer without her.

Great teacher. Took all her classes that I could. Always think of her and the things she taught me. What a wonderful person. John Sarber
