Barbara E. Ramsier

RITTMAN -- Barbara E. (Lavery) Ramsier, age 96, of Rittman, died Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman, following a long period of declining health.
Barbara was born on March 31, 1927, in Diamond, Ohio, to the late Warren and Mabel Lewis, graduated from Palmyra High School in 1945 and attended Kent State University. She married Ivan Frederick Ramsier, her husband of 46 years, until his death on April 16, 2007.
She was a resident of Rittman where she made her home since 1950.
Barbara was a member and Past President of the American Legion, Post #423, and served on the American Legion Auxiliary County Council. She also was a member of the Palmy Chapter #114 Order of of the Eastern Star and the Milton Presbyterian Church in Rittman, where she served as a Deacon and was active in the Presbyterian Women's Organization. She enjoyed volunteering for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, the Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Auxiliary, and as a Poll worker.
Surviving are her daughter, Emmajean Ramsier of Gilbert, AZ; two daughters-in-law, Becky Lavery of Wooster and Judy Ramsier of Akron; two sisters, Kathryn Fenton and Marilyn Pearce; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by children, Larry Ramsier, Lynn Pursley, James Ramsier, Kathy Jones, Douglas Lavery, and Cindy Moore; and a sister, Beverly McLay.
Cremation will take place and services may be announced at a later date. Burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
