Belinda Rose "B" Willinger, age 67 of
Louisville, KY unexpectedly passed away Monday, October 13th, 2025 at Baptist East Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born April 11th, 1958 in
Louisville, KY to the late Clara and Joseph Powers.
Belinda grew up on Hull Street and attended St. Aloysius with her five brothers and sisters. She graduated from Mercy Academy in 1976, where she was on the volleyball team. After graduating, she began her working career as a daycare worker for St. Anthony Hospital where she became a pharmacy tech. Belinda was introduced to the love of her life, Bill Willinger. They were set up to play volleyball on the same team at Saint Martin's Brotherhood. Then on October 12th, 1984, they married at St. Aloysius Church and began their beautiful life together. They began to grow the family with the addition of their first daughter, Katie, in 1986 and then their second daughter, Kristen, in 1989. When her daughters were old enough to attend grade school, Belinda began working at St. Stephen Martyr in both the daycare, and eventually the school, as a teacher's aide. She was an active "room mom", always ensuring cupcakes and treats were had for each birthday and holiday. She was an enthusiastic coach for her daughters' volleyball and softball teams. She never missed any of their games or dance recitals and frequently led other parents in crowd cheers. She continued this passion, as she transitioned from "Mom" to "Ga", a name affectionately given to her by her granddaughter and pride and joy, Kinley Rose, who now also plays multiple sports.
The two words most used to describe Belinda were kind and selfless. She made a positive impact on everyone she met, whether she knew you for five minutes, five hours or five years. Even though she was in her own constant pain from rheumatoid arthritis, she always took the time to ask others how they were doing and if she could help in any way. She never knew a stranger, and as a result, had the ability to turn a quick trip into an adventure that could last several hours. She always ensured that everyone felt welcome and loved, no matter the situation. As a member of the German-American Club, she was frequently seen helping out at events such as the children's Christmas party. She also often occupied her time hand making birthday cards and gift bags for all of her friends and family. Family was at the center of everything she did. She was always the first person to offer help planning a party, thinking about it before anyone else had a chance. Even after she was called home to God, she continued to give by choosing to be an organ donor, her final act of selflessness on earth.
Belinda was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Joseph Powers.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, William "Bill" Willinger, daughters, Katherine "Katie" Willinger (David) and Kristen Willinger (Joe), grandchild, Kinley Willinger and two bonus grandchildren Dawson and Libby Russell; brothers Joseph Powers (Teri), Mike Powers (Christy) and Mark Powers (Theresa); sisters Patricia Feger (Joey) and Susan Cantelli; aunts and uncles Andy and Judy Fuchs, Tony and Carol Phillips, and Nancy Underwood; as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, many of whom considered her a loving second mom.
Visitation will be held at Bosse Funeral Home on Monday, October 20th from 2:00pm – 8:00pm. The funeral mass will be held at Saint Stephen Martyr on Tuesday, October 21st at 10:00am with internment at Calvary Cemetery to follow.
