Beverly Jean LaFlamboy peacefully passed away on February 28, 2025. Born in Hyannis to Russell and Ethel Brown, she was also the great, great granddaughter of Hyannis Sea Captain Allen Brown.
Beverly graduated from Barnstable High School in 1955, obtained her B.A. from Lake Erie College in 1960, spending one semester in Leiden, Netherlands, and acquired her M.Ed. from Abilene Christian College in 1976. She was the first in her family to go to college.
After graduating from Lake Erie College, she moved to San Francisco, CA. While in San Francisco, she reconnected with a friend from Cape Cod, Wayne 'Nick' L. LaFlamboy, who was in the Air Force and stationed nearby. Sharing a sense of adventure and a desire to travel the world, they soon married. While Nick was in the Air Force, they lived in California, Washington D.C., Indiana, Taiwan, and Texas.
When Nick retired, they returned to Cape Cod, however, the travel adventures were not over. Beverly went back to school to become a travel agent, eventually starting her own agency: Bayberry Travel. She and Nick traveled all over the world including exotic islands, ancient sites, bucolic countrysides, and bustling cities. When Beverly sold the travel agency, she became a tour director. With her love of history, outgoing personality, and sense of humor, she was the ideal tour director, and beloved by all her travelers.
Beverly loved reading, relaxing on the beach, outings in Provincetown, and spending time on Nantucket. In her younger years, she loved to knit, sew, and refinish antiques. She always surrounded herself with bright, cheerful colors, and whimsical artwork.
Beverly is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Nick LaFlamboy, and by siblings, Virginia Mycock, Charles Brown, Shirley Lawry, Barbara Ducharme, and Gary Brown. She is survived by her son Wayne L. LaFlamboy, III of Sarasota, FL, daughter Andrée L. Ramsey, her husband John, of Falmouth, MA, two granddaughters Ainsley and Kyra Ramsey, sister-in-law Irene Brown, sister-in-law Joan Jackson and her husband Jay Jackson, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 21st from 12 NOON to 1:00 PM with a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 584 West Falmouth Highway, West Falmouth. Burial will be private.
