Bob Pettitt, son of Floyd and Ethel Jones Pettitt, was born December 21, 1932, in Conway, Missouri and was welcomed at the gates of Heaven by those who went on before him, on his ninety-first birthday.
On September 16, 1952, Bob was united in marriage with the love of his life, Sylvia Smith. Prior to Sylvia's passing on December 23, 2020, they had shared sixty-eight years of love and laughter, triumphs and tears, side by side, while raising their four children.
Bob worked hard to provide for his family. As a young man, only nineteen years old, Bob began working for Detroit Tool. Forty-six years later, at the age of sixty-five, Bob retired from Detroit Tool and devoted the rest of his time to farming. According to his family, time spent on the farm tending to his cattle was something he truly enjoyed. Recently, he also enjoyed watching the Walt Longmire series on Netflix with his family. However, nothing compared to the time spent and memories made with them.
Bob is survived by one son, Bobby Pettitt of Lebanon, MO; three daughters, Terry Lindner and her husband John of Castle Rock, CO, Laina Starnes and her husband Eddie of Lebanon, MO and Janna Clamme, also of Lebanon, MO; grandchildren, Rachele Smith, Ashlee Ehmann and her husband Frank, Chelsea Trammell and her husband Rocky, Charlie Pettitt, Josh Root and his significant other, Darla Conway, Tarah Root, and Teiah DeVasure and her husband Logan; great-grandchildren, Denea Smith, who was raised in Bob and Sylvia's home, Drew Truelove, Jameson Muntz, Luke Smith, Coby Smith-Lindner, Emmerson, Campbell and Cade Ehman, Hensley Trammell and Dean and Beau DeVasure; other relatives and many friends.
Those preceding him in death include his parents; his wife, Sylvia; siblings, Burl, Junior, Gleason and Carol Dean Pettitt and Geneva Keil; two grandchildren, Devra (Smith) Muntz and Chance Smith.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He put the needs of his family first and loved each of them unconditionally. He will be forever missed.
Memorial Service for Bob Pettitt will be Friday, January 5, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Shadel's Colonial Chapel
Visitation will begin at 9:00 until service time, also on Friday at Shadel's Colonial Chapel.
